  • Providing structure for students to write about virtually anything, including a personal narrative.

Unit VIII: Formal Essay (BWI) (IWI) (BWII/IWII) Advanced
Drafting and Composing Goals:
  • Students will continue the use of the proper Introduction and Conclusion from a five paragraph basic essay to the Super Essay (Term paper). Using all the skills as noted in Unit VI.

  • To provide a foundation for high school, and university writing & research, and to provide test taking strategies for ANY essay exam.

IX. Formal Critique/Literary Analysis (BWI) (IWI) (BWII/IWII) Advanced
Drafting and Composing:
  • Students will develop a “critique” vocabulary, which aids in literary analysis.

  • Students will develop a solid structure for book reports, reviews, and critiques.

  • Experienced writers combine the basic story sequence chart with introduction and conclusion paragraphs.

All writing students MUST participate in oral presentations. Essays and reports are written at home and presented in class using PowerPoint or poster board. Current research confirms that oral presentations will not kill students or cause them any harm. :-)
